As I promised at an event in Biggar: here is the portrait of my grandad, James "Mac" MacDonald, painted by Terry Frost in Stalag 387, 1942. 

I gave his war history to Sandy, in In Place of Fear, partly to honour the quiet heroism of the "non-compliant" prisoners of war.
